My mother, Elsa Cederberg Couper was Grace Osteros (indentured for $50 in 1915 at 2 years of age to the Cederberg family in St Paul). I have the original indenture papers in my possession and some letters from the school which claim her mother worked at the school as "second cook." The year was 1915. Nothing is said of the father except at one time my mother said he was English. I was told the original records from the era were destroyed by a fire at the school. Is that true. |
